Rebecca Jeal
Here is a bit about me … in case you are wondering who I am and where I have been and more importantly “why should I listen to what she is saying?” …..well here goes a light explanation as to where I have been and how I know a thing or two about finance, mortgages and financial planning.
I started in the finance industry back in 1994. At the ripe old age of 18 !!!!! Bankwest was the starting point, on the front line counting money …. I had never seen so much in all my life !!!! I counted and filled ATM’s and opened bank accounts and proofed cheques it was from there I progressed to looking at customers credit card applications and seeing if they fit the boxes to be approved. Learnt all the wonderful things such as the 5 c’s of credit which banks preached to back then and over the years I have watched them throw those principals to the wind and introduce all their low and no doc lending (!!! ) to now be slowly heading back to their original guidelines ……
I decided after a year or so, on a whim, that Broome in Western Australia might be a nice place to work and was lucky enough to get a transfer there. I was promoted to lending officer in 1996 and looked after home loans, car/personal loans and credit cards for the good old Broome branch in WA for the next five years ….
I ran first home buyers seminars and worked with local real estate agents to ensure that we met finance approval dates and made customers home buying experiences as simple and painless as possible.
Happily I went along doing really well at my job that I loved.. loved my customers, my bank house and the long stretch of white sand called Cable Beach .. but along came love in the guise of Jon ( who is now my husband) at the Mangrove Hotel one night and the rest they say is history !!!
We came to the gorgeous Sunshine Coast in 2000 for a holiday, purchased a home in Coolum and never looked back ….it was bye bye Broome as we speed off across the country on a 5 day drive with the cat and of course blue dog Jack …..
I was offered a job straight away as the lending manager for Suncorp at Maroochydore and stayed there until 2 weeks before the arrival of Kai our son in Dec 03.
I have helped numerous people here on the coast in their pursuits to own a home, car, holiday, consolidate debts whatever their goals we have made their money work for them. Ensuring customers had all the information available to them to ensure that they made the right decisions regarding their loans and other important financial products such as life insurances. After having Kai it was too hard to go back full time to my job I loved so after extending my maternity leave twice it was time to resign. : (
I worked 2 days a week for a local mortgage broker helping him with his clients and learning what is was like to be on the outside of a bank looking in and from there I started to see how being a good broker is a great service to offer to people.
We made a short detour for 2 years back to WA … Mortgage Choice was the port of call for me I just loved the taste of brokering that I had as there was always generally some way in which we can help a client out (if one bank won’t help then another will !!! ) …..the team in there were just wonderful and had the best attitude towards helping their clients nothing was ever too much trouble , an attitude I have always had but it was so nice to work with people who felt the same. We had access to 27 different lenders and all their policies and products and it was great to learn how all the different lending institutions operate and what they will and won’t approve.
Which brings me to now ….and why I have joined FBC ….after lending for 13 years .. I have done numerous exams and accreditations. I have won awards internally where I have worked and held home buyers seminars of different types. I hold my Cert IV in mortgage broking and am studying further financial planning and real estate. I have chosen to work with like minded professionals who have a genuine care and concern for people’s financial well being. We are brokers, financial planners and property consultants. I enjoy the broking arm of finance as you can explore all options that are available for a client. I can work all hours and fit work around being there for Kai .. You aren’t restricted to one bank and whatever products they have … you are not restricted to one set of policies and you can generally find a solution for a clients financial needs and well being.
I pride myself in ensuring my clients are kept constantly up to date on the progress of their applications and that crucial timelines are always met. I will ensure that you fully understand what you are doing and why and we will plan together how you will achieve your dreams … I will review your lending each year to ensure all is still working well for you or advise you if there is something new .. and most of all I will be your financial friend … many of my clients have become like friends and many of my friends are clients ….. I have attached some testimonials and I hope they help you to decide to call me the next time you need some help or advise ….
Thanks once again for reading what I write …. : )
